Hello –
Hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful summer! I've been doing a little too much relaxing since the release of True Story Orchestra, so I've got a bunch of news to share with you all:
1) THANK YOU! First off, thank you so much to everybody who attended, played for and helped out with my CD Release Concert on June 24th at the Music Gallery - I couldn't have asked for a better way to kick off my debut album! The day went off without a hitch, everyone played beautifully and we had a fantastic reception under the stars afterwards. Thank you all so much.
2) NEXT SHOWS Thursday, October 9th at the Free Times Café (320 College St) for Indie Week Toronto 2008. Doors at 8pm, a great line-up of five bands from all over North America….I'll be on at 11pm with my stellar ensemble playing songs from the new album. The 'winner' from each night goes on to play at the final Indie Week Showcase on the 11th, so come on out – your clapping and singing-along will be so very much appreciated and will maybe even sway those judges…
After that, I'll be performing at the International Pop Overthrow Toronto – this festival is happening at the Rivoli November 26-29th – exact date and time to be announced real soon!

Hello everyone –
So the CD Release Concert was a huge success…32 fabulous musicians, a beautiful church setting, perfect weather and a wondrous reception under stars afterwards – I couldn't have asked for a better way to end the production stage of this journey and move onto the next phase!

The word is out….I am really happy to let you all know that my debut album TRUE STORY ORCHESTRA will be officially released by Pet Lion Records on June 24th at the Music Gallery in Toronto!
The band will be recreating the album live with 35+ people joining me onstage on strings, winds, brass, keyboards, guitars, percussion and vocals. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased in advance (by emailing info@ainsleymcneaney.com) or at the door. Copies of TRUE STORY ORCHESTRA will be available for purchase at a discounted price and everyone is welcome to attend a reception following the show.
Due to the, um, large-ish scale of this show, it is a one-time only deal, certainly not to be missed. Hope to see you all there!

Happy new year to all! I just wanted to check in briefly and let you all know that the album is halfway done. So far, we've recorded: bass, drums, piano, strings, vibes, glockenspiel, marimba, timpani, chimes, xylophone and some miscellaneous percussion. And over the next couple of weeks, we'll be adding in the brass and winds, which I am super excited about!
Yesterday in the studio, I had given myself a moment to recover from the beautiful realisation that the music is turning out exactly the way that my generous imagination wanted it to. That, my dear friends, is reason enough to create – when out of nothing comes something that breathes, the feeling is beyond extraordinary. I can't wait to share this with everyone.
That being said, the album release date will be at the beginning of May, so keep checking back for more details!
